That's the idea Almost everything can be broken down into really simple shapes, it's just a matter of finding what they are. Once you know what they are you can just rearranged them and rotate them for different poses.
You've no idea just how big a help you were with this. I've ALWAYS had issues with drawing ponies, and this really helps me set up a work process. Very useful, descriptive, and you even describe the proportions which is mighty nice.
I may end up stealing your artstyle for a tumblr I wanna start, but this is a damn fine tutorial. Much obliged, man.
Thanks, that's so nice of you to say. It is really gratifying to know that I actually helped someone. It's a method that's always done pretty well for me, even though there are definitely other ways people do it.
Hehe, you can use my style, all my style is is just "as close as I can get to show style". At least I think that's what I'm doing, I can never be sure.
It's certainly close, but has a much more cartoony style to it, almost like the Lunastuck tumblr. I've just gotta work on the legs a LOT more, and learn to be more liberal with the size of my drawings.
I've never noticed how hard it is to draw a straight line on a tablet...

I also made a flash version which may be slightly more useful. [link]
